Catastrophic is not a creature pursuing an individual. He is catastrophe itself, given physical form. Inspired in part by the destruction of powerful hurricanes, the character represents disasters that pass through communities and leave devastation behind. His presence symbolizes a force that does not discriminate or choose its victims.
